ICANN operates L.root-servers.net, one of the thirteen root name servers, as a service to the community. ICANN maintains global L-Root nodes in various locations.
The L-root system operates at the IPv4 199.7.83.42 with the range 199.7.83.0/24 and the IPv6 address 2001:500:3::42 with the range 2001:500:3/48 both ranges are announced from AS20144 . L.root-servers.net uses the Name Server Daemon (NSD) from NLnetLabs.
